The rainwater passes through the muddy clay into the depth of the soil and surfaces again as a crystal clear spring to quench our thirst- the same way the priest’s unworthiness does not prevent him , from Christ acting through him in delivering the sacraments . It is only in the delivery of the sacraments : baptism, hearing confessions , at the consecration of the Blessed Sacrament is there an assurance , that his even his sinfulness cannot prevent the fruit of grace , till in other actions of his , his human weakness, fallibility leave a mark.
