Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel….Wednesday 27 September 2017   The Feast of Saint Vincent de Paul

During two thousand years our Lord Jesus Christ  sends his disciples again and again to proclaim God’s Kingdom and to heal the sick. If we would have done this till now all nations and people could have been converted , and then we would not have to fear wars, toil with refugees, bicker so much and petrified get ready for the end of the world ! Unfortunately only very few people listen even today to Pope Francis , who does nothing else but sends us to proclaim  with mercy and love Gospel in the name of Christ , heal the wounds of the earth ! Unfortunately many people turn against him , even though they should know that during the millennium all the branches that broke off the vine , dried out….Here we have to think in centuries, millennium because the mills of God turn slowly ! It is a historical fact that apart  from the large family of the Church , no other large community on earth survived ! Perhaps for a short time one or more” branch" may even flower but the breaking down further ,  sinking into its own conservation it drifts towards annihilation ! 

I believe and profess that Christ would like to do today what He did two thousand years ago ! To gather His disciples together with love , giving them strength and power with trust and send them out to proclaim God’s Kingdom and heal the many ills of our world ! For this we do not need infrastructural investments , huge gilded churches , because a homily can be given by the roadside or even in a stadium ! To build a better world no money is needed but brave , enthusiastic people trusting in God, accepting the guidance of the Church, who are willing to leave the tables of the moneychangers , the business life providing appearances of good living , and humbly getting down on their knees  in front of God saying : My Lord I am here send me , humbly selflessly I’ll do everything You ask of me !

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority

over all demons and to cure diseases,

and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God

and to heal the sick.

He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey,

neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money,

and let no one take a second tunic.

Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.

And as for those who do not welcome you,

when you leave that town,

shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them."

Then they set out and went from village to village

proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
