Saturday 30 September 2017…Memorial of Saint Jerome, Priest and Doctor of the Church
I am filled by admiration about our Lord Jesus Christ’s decision stemming out of His love for us ! At the time of His incarnation He emptied Himself and came as a crying baby amongst us, giving up His Divinity placing His life in Mary’s hand ! We could think that there is no love greater than this , yet on Holy Thursday Jesus takes another step , the "The Son of Man is given into human hands !” Total surrender of Himself , when on the cross with His last breath , in His infinite loneliness He almost cries out “ Eli, Eli , lama sabactani “"My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me". ?
What we should never forget that He accepted all this because :“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3, 16. Jesus’ life is about us , our eternal salvation because there is a great deal at stake , our decisions have serious consequences ! If Jesus could have redeemed us without incarnation, death on the cross then probably He would not have done, accepted all that for our sake , but us poor sinners needed all this and Jesus gladly accepted everything for our sake just so we can be all together in eternal life !! My dear brothers and sisters I encourage you lovingly to give up with grudging , greed, our selfish sins and lets embark with Him on the way of love towards eternal salvation !!
