Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel Monday 8 January 2018
‘Follow me and I will make you fish for people.’
Jesus Christ does not only call the apostles,“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”, but all people! Our Redeemer would like to get His life-giving message across to all people , the commandment of love !That is why He calls all of us with goodness, trust !
During the course of history very many people said yes to the call of Christ and embarked on their own way of life, to bring heaven to earth with justice, goodness , beauty , love to sanctify themselves and the world ! Among Jesus’ apostles there are wise, smart powerful people similar to the king Szent László, but there are also very ordinary, poor, scorned people as well .The common denominator in them is that despite their own momentary interests they are always capable to keep the community goals, longterm interests in my mind . The saints , the apostles are not thinking in 4 year terms , they do not want to increase their own bank accounts only , but they would like to sanctify the world , make it more liveable , lead people into a more peaceful , calmer world , to the eternal life.
You can be an apostle as well , anybody can say yes to the call of Christ . I believe that there is no other more beautiful calling, profession here on earth. Lets quieten down in the first days of the new year and lets play with the thought “that I am an apostle of Christ.” There where I live a revolutionary of love , and taken in the proper context “ like a terrorist of love “! Lets be the sleeping agents of Christ , who quietly , wisely prepare with a good deed or more , something beautiful for God and calmly , with an enduring determination carry it out !!
With love,
Father Csaba

14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news* of God,* 15and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near;* repent, and believe in the good news.’*
16 As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake—for they were fishermen.17And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me and I will make you fish for people.’18And immediately they left their nets and followed him. 19As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him.
