Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel Saturday 27 January 2018
A miracle: In the broad sense , everything that elicits , an awe , a wonderment : strictly speaking an event brought about by God’s intervention in suspending the course of nature.
For me it is a miracle that two young colleagues Andrea and Guszti set off from the children’s home in Petrozsény with ten students and in Budapest in a packed church put on a show , happily , smiling , bravely singing, and by their performance they win the approval, applause of the inhabitants of the capital ! Yes for me it’s a miracle that our son growing up in our child protection home gets on his feet , sets out and years later returns with his lovely wife , looks for work and becomes a carer ! It’s a miracle that this child from a poor background getting back on his feet , after carrying out his duties , with hard work cleans the old chapel wrecked during the communist era and was totally written off , organises the work , calls in tradesmen , renews the walls , the ceiling , the attic , the sanctuary named after the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ ! I bow my head as I can see that my dear colleagues outstanding ,from the other young people of today ,prepare a home here on earth, a chapel for our Redeemer where together with the other orphans that can worship, glorify our Creator God ! In my heart the flower of gratitude and joy blooms , when I can see that our God today as well, in our families is capable , can perform a miracle ! I bow my head together with the apostles who can find peace on the stormy sea , and I give praise and thanks in the presence of Jesus Christ performing the miracle !
With love ,
Father Csaba
translated by dr k.e.
On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples:
"Let us cross to the other side."
Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him.
A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat,
so that it was already filling up.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
They woke him and said to him,
"Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
He woke up,
rebuked the wind,
and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!"
The wind ceased and there was great calm.
Then he asked them, "Why are you terrified?
Do you not yet have faith?"
They were filled with great awe and said to one another,
"Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”
