Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel 28 March 2018 Wednesday of Holy Week
Jesus kneels down in front of His disciples and one by one washes their feet , then bends down gently kissing the feet of the apostles walking on His way!! Among the twelve, Judas is there too with the thirty pieces of silver jingling in his pocket yet our Master kneels down the same way and washed his feet as well!! How great is the humility, goodness in the heart of our Redeemer ? Then they sit down at the table and together eat the last supper !!
How much can I love the one who hurts me, betrays , denies me , the one whom I know is going to turn his back on me !?How good it would be if my love would not be conditional , but really my merciful goodness should not be a reward but a healing balm , and if I would not be just paying my attention to those who deserve it, but to those who have the greatest need for it!!
It is not enough just to admire Christ , but humbly embark on our Master’s way ! Unfortunately even around us there are many , who turn their back on us , deny us , speak ill of us in our absence !! Lets use the holy days of Holy Week and at least in my thoughts I should wash the feet of the members of my family , my friends with merciful love!!
Your lesser brother in Christ,
Father Csaba
translated by dr k.e.
Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What will you give me if I betray him to you?" They paid him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he began to look for an opportunity to betray him. When it was evening, Jesus took his place with the twelve; and while they were eating, he said, "Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me." And they became greatly distressed and began to say to him one after another, "Surely not I, Lord?" He answered, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that one by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that one not to have been born." Judas, who betrayed him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?" He replied, "You have said so."
