"When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbours and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her... The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
Luke 1:57-80
The world cries out for prophets! The Church commemorates today the birthday of Saint John the Baptist! Let us pray that God will send prophets into the world. Even if the authorities of all times persecute and even behead some of them, we ask God to raise up men and women who, leaving everything aside, will kneel humbly before the Lord in the wilderness! The prophet, like Moses, takes off his shoes and, conscious of his smallness, enters into a dialogue with his Creator who addresses him!
God is truly alive and speaks to us: "Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart. No creature is concealed from him, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account." Hebrews 4:12-13
Our heavenly Father loves us, wants to help us, to guide us through his prophets, just as Jesus Christ did to his contemporaries through his apostles. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the labourers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out labourers for his harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
With caring love, the Holy Trinity wants to speak to us again today through its prophet! It is the time of summer vacations, holidays, more free time, let us retire and listen to God speaking to us from the depths of our souls! With the little prophet Samuel, we kneel down and say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.' 1 Samuel 3:9
With love from Father Csaba
