Before my journey to Iraq I am preoccupied with one important question : Can hatred , war be conquered ?
I believe that in this world only God’s mercy is infinite and everything else that is finite can be ended !! I am convinced that hatred can be defeated !!
I ask you lovingly to come and join me in prayer asking for the intercession of Saint Nicholas of Flue for the blessed peace !

BIOGRAPHY:
The pure innocence of childhood , the time of the dreamy adolescence ends abruptly by the outbreak of the civil war in 1440 . Nicholas had to enlist and spent 4 years on the battlefield with the rest of the troops . According to his contemporaries he did not do too much damage in his enemies during these battles , but he still had to be there at revelries following bloody battles, where the victors divided the loot they acquired . The young man stood by the side of his dying comrades , saw the how the conquered enemy was struggling for their lives in despair . Four years in a tent , in the cold, among the mountains reaching the sky in a battle field , this was the cruel life's merciless school for the 23 years old young man .
REFLECTION:
God wants to direct our steps to the way of love and peace. The evil spirit would lead all of us to the land of hatred , anger and war, unfortunately he succeeds in this unless we hold onto each other’s hand firmly , if we don’t insist on our actual or alleged rights as more important than God and the brotherly love meaning life. . Day after day we have to decide that in conjunction with my alleged rights how to solve my own problems! We can decide by hatred, war or in the spirit of selfless love ! Jesus starts a dialogue with the murderous Saul, persecuting the Christian Church on the road to Damascus ,and does not, conquer ,destroy the enemy but convinces him of His truth , the higher magnitude of love and goodness . Saul becomes the people’s apostle Saint Paul, without having to fight with him, who at the end of his life writes the beautiful hymn of love . I wonder if any of my enemies ,” Saul-s” will become, my allies, companions with whom I can proclaim together the power of love that can turn everything around.
LET US PRAY:
The everyday problems ,worries, difficulties are part of life that like it or not we have to solve .Many times it seems as though brutal force is the solution to achieve our goals .Through the intercession of Saint Nicholas of Flue help us Lord that looking for a solution for our problems we never purport hatred, violence, war but even if the road of love is narrow we stay on it to advance towards You. The way of charity , goodness that You showed us we know leads to the Golgotha , but we also know that this is the only road that will lead through the glorious resurrection at Easter to eternal happiness.
So that our petitions may be heard we pray :
Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
