Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel
Friday 24 March 2017
In the most important questions people usually see eye to eye and agree with Christ but still do not live according to the commandment of love !? WHY ?
Unfortunately even tough we do not go into the desert for forty days , the evil one still comes among us and the same way as with our Lord Jesus Christ tests us as well! Tempts us with the sin of consumption : tell these stones to turn into bread and you devour, you consume ! Tempted us with the sin of possession: if you fall on your knees in front of me , I give you everything the entire shopping centre will be yours and finally tries to draw us into the sin of power: throw yourself off from the church tower and the angels will hold you up , carrying you in their palms , and you’ll be great , a star , a famous person! Yes the evil one tempts us all and sadly many times we cannot resist the tempter and the greed, the avarice, the covetousness, the vanity, the thirst for power and and the other sinful desired throws us off the right track , our goal that we want to achieve!!
That is why during the period of Lent , it is not enough just to repent , but we also have to discover these treacherous , sly desires ourselves and just like a surgeon removing an inflamed appendix , we have to cut these out of our lives with a merciless decision!!If we want to follow the commandment of love then we only have to put enough onto our plates that is necessary for sustenance for our lives, only put so much material things into our backpacks that we have need for , because all that we posses we also have to drag along with ourselves and finally instead of domination we have to choose our brothers’ conscious service !!It is difficult to embark on the way of love weighed down by an overweight body , feeling one’s way in the midst of material possessions, longing after power!! Lets not forget the extra kilos , burdens pull us down , poverty makes us free and the simple , serving consciously chosen lesser brotherhood lifts us up, sanctifies , makes you a welcome friend of your brothers and sisters !
With love,
Father Csaba

The Greatest Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[b] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c] There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
