Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel….Monday 26 November 2018
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15, 12.
We can place on the collection plates material goods, money , more or less , but that does not hurt as much when we give from ourselves to our brethren with love ! This time I would like to put on the centerstage those who coming from Australia “give part of themselves “ with love to the Transylvanian orphaned children !
Dear Éva came from Brisbane a big city of two million people , visited us then with her husband and daughter made the decision to come as a voluntary worker for a year ! This young mother has a very nice voice , she is trained as a kindergarten teacher and over a year she came day after day , to teach the children in difficult situation to to read, write, behave , but also took a fair share of the work around the house, and also taught the children of Máréfalva many nice folksongs ! By the end of the year there was a lot of crying but they had to return to Australia ! In the meantime the correspondence continued and after a year aunty Éva and her dear family returned yet for another year. ! Yes this kind family did not give the two coins but two years from their lives to our children ! I believe that these two years will be something that will not be destroyed by rust or eaten by moth , as Éva said it this was the most beautiful 2 years of their lives and certainly the memories will last for eternal life !
From Australia thank God not only Éva and family came but many others. Kati néni became the guardian angel of the kindergarten in Déva . But from among all the kindhearted Hungarians from Australia first and foremost I have to mention dear Kalotay Eszter , who came from Sydney as a dental surgeon by this time 10 years ago !! Initially only for a couple of months , but by now spends 8-9 months every year in Transylvania , and only after that did she return to her grown up beautiful family of three children who left the family nest ! Yes Eszter as a blessed grandmother gives herself to the orphaned children ! She gives herself patiently , kindheartedly because she loves God very much and her people from which she also descended from!
During the past 25 years , in the eyes of God the most precious gift is that part of our lives , that we kindheartedly gave our Creator following the example of Saint Joseph to the children entrusted into our care ! On my part I also became much richer on seeing that our brethren from near or far how unselfishly are pouring the moments , days , years of their lives in the name of God for our children in difficulties , trouble ! I pray for the growing up young generation may also have the courage for sharing God’s most precious gift , time out of love , with love with their fellow human beings .
With a grateful heart for every moment that you gave kindheartedly to our children ,
Father Csaba
translated by dr k.e.
Jesus looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury; he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. He said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on."
Luke 21:1-4
