On 1 July, on the square in front of the Vajdahunyad Castle, from 11.00 a.m., we will present a Holy Mass, and you are cordially invited to join us in prayer for unity and for blessed peace! Come, let us pray that the peoples of the Carpathian Basin may hold hands with trust and together, let us make our homeland a fairy garden, let us build and beautify the kingdom of God's love!
The history of church bells ringing at noon:
Pope Callixtus III, in his papal bull of 29 June 1456, before the Battle of Nándorfehérvár / Belgrade, decreed that the bells should ring at noon to call us to prayer every day for the unity and preservation of our common values! It was only after the victorious battle, on 9 August 1500, that Pope Alexander VI decreed that the bell should ring every noon and that people should pray together for blessed peace, renewing Callixtus' decree that the defence of Christianity and solidarity in all times and places is an important duty of the priesthood and the faithful.
Our world is heading towards confusion and chaos, let us take seriously the decision of our ancestors and, following their example, let us also be silent every noon at the call of the bell and turn with prayerful trust to our Lord, our God. Together, let us pray for blessed peace and the grace of joyful unity for the peoples of the world!
Each noon, at the call of the bell, we go down to the chapel and pray the Angelus !
The Angel of the Lord brought tidings unto Mary, and she conceived by the Holy Ghost. Hail Mary…
Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it unto me according to thy word. Hail Mary…
And the Word was made flesh. And dwelt amongst us. Haily Mary…
Pray for us, Holy Mother of God, that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: We beseech thee, O Lord, pour thy grace into our hearts, that as we have known the Incarnation of thy Son Jesus Christ by the message of an angel, so by his Cross and Passion we may be brought unto the glory of his Resurrection.
Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
