How good it would be if every Hungarian’s family ’s role model the Holy Family would be who decided in favour of life ! I wonder how many abortions are happening just because a a child is a burden , there are problems with a child, because there is a need for a newer car or something else ?! May Mary be our ideal in this as well : yes despite of everything I always decide by life, a child ! No matter how much that decision costs .

The angel speaks :“Arise take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.” (Matthew 2,13-14). Saint Joseph and Mary have to make a decision. On the one hand there is Nazareth , the workshop , an assured living , the house, the home . On the other hand there is the Child , the Life . One has to decide ! The greatness of the Holy Family is that they decided by Life . They accept the flight , the poverty , the exile into a foreign land . They accept everything because Life is , what is important for them.

The Christ Child does not ask for accountability , He ruffles Joseph’s bear, and nestles up against the shepherds , who were never known to be to saintly . It is quite possible that they went to the manger with breath in an alcoholic haze -and yet Mary still hands them the Holy Infant ! The incarnate God is smiling there in the arms of the ordinary people . I get down on my knees with great respect , love in front of my Creator God, who revealed to us His beautiful face in Jesus Christ !!

I believe that on the night of Christmas or in the quietness of the simple shelter of Nazareth the Blessed Virgin Mother and Saint Joseph experiences the fullness, peace , joy of human existence . There were none of our world’s “luxurious” electric, chrome, plastic marvels there , but they were there for each other as a God-given gift , blessing . They were not consumers but became gifts .
The great message of Christmas : the happiness is within you and this you can pass on in the name of God to your companion , your child, everyone . Do it humbly , since you were born for this.

Jesus did not bring a gift for Mary , Saint Joseph , Because He Himself was the present ! Be yourself God’s precious gift for your loved ones!!
I like to imagine before myself the quiet , simple cave in Betlehem , the Holy Family with the Infant Jesus ! How awe-inspiring is the simplicity ! The Lord of the Universe coming into this world empty-handed ! He does not bring anything, because He Himself is the blessing , the gift . “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,” (John 3,16 )

The courage of a man trusting in God is remarkable ! We also feel ,that we should let this or that go and with a great impetus we should throw ourselves into what we believe in, what we consider valuable, important the will of God! The question is do we have the Blessed Virgin Mother’s courage , great vitality, drive . Do we dare to let go of our habitual, routine like , comfortable habits, that hold back our soaring ?

Mary went to Nazareth , to Betlehem . Poor Joseph is knocking here and there , but cannot find a lodging . Mary is capable of accepting that simple stable , that Her husband found with a great deal of difficulty . Mary acknowledges , that this is all that is given . This is the situation. And She gives birth to Her Holy Son in there .

Everything is finite , the fertile land, the water , the treasures in the depth of the ground, everything has its limits , only love is unlimited for everybody . The distribution of finite things can only result in war , that is why people need to be taught to search for life-giving merciful love . Deep down in our hearts all of us feel - that what we are trying to satisfy with substitutes-only pure love can quench.
