There is always something in our lives that is “unfair” , that disturbs us ,that could be better and if at times like this we move on, we slowly will become , like a windmill that at the slightest little breeze will move . A man looks for his place , weighs it up , decides and sticks to his decision, promise . You have to know that in the world of honest adults there is a measure : one man , one word !

How many things occupy us , we watch the media , we pay attention to politics and many times we do not even notice the elementary needs of our families' , the people living around us , we cannot comprehend it , sense it. How many children who finished up in our childcare facilities are waiting for a phone call from their mothers, fathers, grandparents ? ! How many suffering sick people are looking with teary eyes after their doctors who left them for “greener pastures “ ?! And how many ordinary people are left without a festive table because of the immeasurable selfishness of bankers lead by greed ? !

With my deeds , my words , examples I can heal and devastate as well, I can build and destroy as well , I can give life, but kill as well.
All this opens up incredible vista. One’s deeds produce fruits , good or bad. It would be good if we would produce fruit, that we can be proud of and would lead us to salvation.
That is why our Mother the Church is saying that at the moment of our death we are brought into the presence of God for individual judgement , when everybody will receive his /her reward or punishment, but only at the of the world will the last judgement come , by which time “all fruit will ripen “ and that will be apparent to everybody.

Unfortunately nowadays many feel that unless they can do something out of the ordinary , they don’t get into television, the media , they won’t become stars their lives are ruined , dull and meaningless . This is definitely not the case , how great it is to know that by fulfilling our everyday duties we can also grow up to the kingdom of heaven .

Jesus Christ not only at the start of His public ministry did He retreat into the desert , but even later on He very often retreated for whole nights alone or with His companions to a quiet, solitary place, to pray . On Holy Thursday again He looks for strength , consolation for the sacrifice He has to face on Good Friday. He is asking His disciples to do the same , “ pray and keep vigil”.

It is only after our death , looking back from the afterlife will we understand the great connections , relevances in our lives ! There is a saying , that life is like a beautiful persian rug . Looking up from down below we can only see the reverse, the wrong side of it , there there is nothing else except loads of meaningless knots . If we look at it from above , we can see that exquisite designs, forms, configurations ripple across the rug.

A child can be killed in the mother’s womb as well , but it cannot be destroyed , the child has an immortal spirit . We would be the poorer for it, if we would reject the holy traditions and we would not even act wisely . Christ is the embodiment of the complete revelation , but even the Holy Scriptures do not comprise all of Jesus’ words . Our Lord did not spoon-feed everything even to His disciples , and they could not even write down everything that He said during the three years of His public ministry . The apostle Saint John even writes it sincerely :25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. I do not believe that our Church over two thousand years would have proclaimed heresy , that I would have become a Catholic priest based on a fatal misunderstanding . I do not believe that God would have allowed, that the church founded by Christ would be existing based on a fallacy and that tomorrow He would declare , well then we are going to mould everything together , throw it away and lets start something totally new, since as He said it :The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16, 18)

Prayer cannot be the shrewd satisfaction of our human vanity , ambition , greed dressed in the guise of a spiritual vesture. Our happiness does not consist that speaking in different tongues we perform miracles . A true spiritual person in prayer is searching for his God , and not fame, glory , showing off in front of people . Yes , he is searching for his God, Who if He sees it fit can perform miracles through him as well , but he in the full knowledge of his unworthiness always tries quietly to hide it.
