Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel….Thursday 7 September 2017

Peter considers himself unworthy, a sinner and ask Jesus to depart from him! How wonderful it is that the Master does not abandon Peter who is quite aware of his own weaknesses , but rather invites him to become His apostle ! Jesus knows the man, knows what he is like, but despite this calls him, because he believes that man is capable to born again , change, grow ! And behold marvel of marvels , next to Jesus Peter really becomes an apostle , a saint ! 

The start of the school year is upon us, what do I do with children , people around me in the classrooms , in my surroundings who are problematic, fallible ? Am I capable to form them, teach them educate them with  self-sacrificing work or do I just simply turn my back on them ?! By my side  can the children, the people grow up , or just as they came , the same way they just drift away ? To raise a child means that I believe that the mischief-makers, the rogues can improve bit by bit grow up nicely. by becoming God’s saints sit at the same table with our heavenly Father and perhaps me a sinner in eternity !

Christ wants us , that following His example we also accept each other kind-heartedly,we trust in each other , lets believe in the final victory of the love capable of changing people !

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret , the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.

4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

5 Simon answered, “Master,  we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.z But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.

Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel….Wednesday 6 September 2017

Jesus heals! Turns to the elderly suffering woman , starts talking with her, they have a chat and the sick person facing the wall . She got up immediately and waited on them.”

Lets look around us , how many “sick" people are there who face the wall and suffer  !? Perhaps , I cannot heal but I should still go to a “suffering” person, turn to them with trust bend over them and ask for God’s healing grace with prayerful trust !! May the beautiful kind-hearted , ready-to-help face of our Lord Jesus Christ shine on my face, and may I help with merciful love the person in distress , trouble , and I should do whatever I can… If we embark on the way of serving brotherly love , we will be surprised ourselves , how far away that wall is and how much we can do for one another with enduring love this way !! Get going and know that the God of love will make the way obstacle free for a good willing man to surmount any difficulties in his way !!

After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon.

Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever,

and they interceded with him about her.

He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her.

She got up immediately and waited on them.

At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him.

He laid his hands on each of them and cured them.

And demons also came out from many, shouting, "You are the Son of God."

But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak

because they knew that he was the Christ.

At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place.

The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him,

they tried to prevent him from leaving them.

But he said to them, "To the other towns also

I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God,

because for this purpose I have been sent."

And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Father Csaba’s reflections on the gospel..Monday 4 September 2017

I admire God for giving us the gift of free will, but at the same time I am also horrified reading today’s gospel passage , of the human free will’s unbridled , sickly aberrations ! Where is the limit ? What does a wicked, insolent arrogant man think he can get away with ? Our Globe , our only home , as a tiny piece of walnut shell is hurtling along among the waves threatening to swallow us , and we are not only trying to push our boundaries , but like insane people do everything in our power  that we become the shipwrecked of the great universe!

Why can’t we come to a holt and quietly pay attention to our God ?! Our Creator’s commandments are so simple ! The ten commandments is the only instruction manual leading us to happiness,God’s precious gift, nowadays a public property for all, why is't this precious compass in the hand of all of us !?

The people from Nazareth :"rose up, drove him out of the town,

and led him to the brow of the hill

on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong.” Luke 4,30. Horrifying , scared , trembling do I write it down , that if today our Lord Jesus Christ would come amongst us possibly the same fate would await Him as two thousand years ago ! Lets not make judgement over the people who lived two thousand years ago, rather lets narrow down the circle , because the big question is for me and you! If Jesus Christ would knock on your door with His commandments leading to happiness, would you offer Him a place at your table , and while sharing a glass of vine would you ask Him , to elaborate kindly on His thoughts ,listening to Him telling you His observations about you , so you would be able to modify your ways ? Everybody should put their own house in order ! I am praying so that we have the courage to call our Master back night after night with prayerful love so that we have the opportunity to talk over His teachings , commandments one at a time calmly , sitting at His feet , with good intentions to improve listen to His wise words !

Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,

and went according to his custom

into the synagogue on the sabbath day.

He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.

He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he has anointed me

to bring glad tidings to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,

to let the oppressed go free,

and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

Rolling up the scroll,

he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,

and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.

He said to them,

"Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."

And all spoke highly of him

and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.

They also asked, "Is this not the son of Joseph?"

He said to them, "Surely you will quote me this proverb,

'Physician, cure yourself,' and say, 'Do here in your native place

the things that we heard were done in Capernaum.'"

And he said,

"Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place.

Indeed, I tell you,

there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah

when the sky was closed for three and a half years

and a severe famine spread over the entire land.

It was to none of these that Elijah was sent,

but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon.

Again, there were many lepers in Israel

during the time of Elisha the prophet;

yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian."

When the people in the synagogue heard this,

they were all filled with fury.

They rose up, drove him out of the town,

and led him to the brow of the hill

on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong.

But he passed through the midst of them and went away.

Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel. 3 September 2017 ..22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time 

So often we say “ I would “to but then , if we feel like it , whilst “we like it” we do it then once this feeling is gone we stop ! Willpower is much closer to our ego than our mood similar to the clouds drifting in the breeze ! I like it, I don’t like it -fluctuating feeling ! It is quite certain that Jesus did not like Good Friday, yet He still went up onto the Golgotha , not because His mood directed Him , but His will, that was nourished by His love for the Heavenly Father !

Who makes the decisions in your life ? Your momentary interest, your mood, your desire, your fears, your joys? How great it would be if in my life also my decisions would be made in the light of my burning love of Christ ! May my unquenchable love towards God, my ardent wish for the service of my people guide my life !

Jesus began to show his disciples

that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly

from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,

and be killed and on the third day be raised. 

Then Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke him,

"God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you." 

He turned and said to Peter,

"Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. 

You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do."

Then Jesus said to his disciples,

"Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,

take up his cross, and follow me. 

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,

but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world

and forfeit his life? 

Or what can one give in exchange for his life? 

For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory,

and then he will repay all according to his conduct.”

'You wicked, lazy servant!

So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant

and gather where I did not scatter?

Should you not then have put my money in the bank

so that I could have got it back with interest on my return?

Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten.

For to everyone who has,

more will be given and he will grow rich;

but from the one who has not,

even what he has will be taken away.

And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside,

where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'"

Christianity  often is very wrongly judged by some as a half-hearted idling of one’s time away , when in actual fact the pretender is the one behind the folding screen of his activities, everyone is only taking pains over their own petty goals ! Unfortunately this is obvious to many, but being polite, for the sake of peace , that leads to the cemetery , nobody says anything , we just smile and together we are marching towards destruction !

Our society is like a living organism , the Church , the public sector consists of links nicely joined together! Out of this strong, healthy collaboration the community life is born , the survival of the family , the great union! Here every cell, organ has to carry out its own function , because if somebody quietly , without saying a word buries their talent , does not carry out the task entrusted to him diligently the whole organism will become sick , won’t work well and dies! Unfortunately the fabric of our society is full of these people leading a pretence life , writing applications , but afraid of actual work , avoiding any challenges , difficulties, burying their talents , refusing to work for renumeration not meeting their expectations , avoiding carrying out the tasks !!

Over tens of thousand psychologists, theologians , social workers are vegetating , being idle , looking for work , yet if I would like to find somebody to entrust them with a slightly handicapped , naughty child to take in a student as a good mother substitute to work with problematic children , teaching them happily a few simple things I am unable to find anybody! Why did they train over many years , at no small expense “experts” who don’t have the courage to embark on the path of  a concrete task , so there with a firm hand to take the hand of a drifting child !? A well-qualified person even at the foundation is well  paid by the state , we provide them with accomodation and all of life’s necessities free of charge yet I still have to write with a heavy heart that not one of them is willing to embark on this road , to move in with the children , and like a caring parent raise lovingly the ones in need !! They come happily to be bosses , to rule the roost but all this is not enough , because a child needs a mother, a caring parent , who reads a story at night, who can rejoice with the child when they get a good mark and cries with them when they fail ! We need such experts who realise, that it is unnecessary to try and force an unsuited 16 year old, to undertake theoretical studies,  daily, through long hours , in year 5 it is better to teach them a trade , that will provide them with a living,so when they turn 18 years old, these stumbling little lives will be able to stay alive in the deep waters of the everyday ! 

I pray lovingly that  God" a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out” , but wake you up to face life to help experience how great it is to bear  joyful harvest , to stand in front of our Creator with branches laden with lasting fruit !

Jesus told his disciples this parable:

"A man going on a journey 

called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.

To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one– 

to each according to his ability.

Then he went away.

Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them,

and made another five.

Likewise, the one who received two made another two.

But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground

and buried his master's money.

After a long time 

the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them.

The one who had received five talents

came forward bringing the additional five.

He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents.

See, I have made five more.'

His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.

Since you were faithful in small matters,

I will give you great responsibilities.

Come, share your master's joy.'

Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said,

'Master, you gave me two talents.

See, I have made two more.'

His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.

Since you were faithful in small matters,

I will give you great responsibilities.

Come, share your master's joy.'

Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said,

'Master, I knew you were a demanding person,

harvesting where you did not plant

and gathering where you did not scatter;

so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground.

Here it is back.'

His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant!

Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel……Friday 1 September 2017

"they all became drowsy and fell asleep." Mt 25,10

We live in a sleepy, dozing world, everybody is tired , want to rest !! But , the end of the vacation is here , a new school year is staring, the bridegroom has arrived ! Can I get up ? Do I jump out of my bed briskly , from my lazy  summer programs? Is there oil in my lamp ? The flame is blazing sparkling, is the light shining for the ones entrusted to me ?? Lets realise how important these questions are , as my eternal life depends on my answers !!

Lets get up refreshed , briskly , may the fire of the pulsating stress before the fight permeate my being , and lets set off happily , trustingly for the first day of school !! I am God’s child , in my heavenly Father’s heart there is no fear, faint-heartedness , cowardice , we stem from this heart , lets start the the new school year with trust , we are going to win !!

Jesus told his disciples this parable:

"The Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins

who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 

Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 

The foolish ones, when taking their lamps,

brought no oil with them,

but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. 

Since the bridegroom was long delayed,

they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

At midnight, there was a cry,

'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' 

Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 

The foolish ones said to the wise,

'Give us some of your oil,

for our lamps are going out.' 

But the wise ones replied,

'No, for there may not be enough for us and you.

Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.' 

While they went off to buy it,

the bridegroom came

and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. 

Then the door was locked.

Afterwards the other virgins came and said,

'Lord, Lord, open the door for us!' 

But he said in reply,

'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.' 

Therefore, stay awake,

for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel ..Thursday 31 August 2017

"Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant….” Matthew 24,45 Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself asks a valid question , it is exciting to think about it ! 

All my ecclesiastical life I was devoting all my effort to prove that God does not create rejects ! Yes God created a wonderful world, on the one hand in an infinite space more than a billion galaxies , and in all of them many- many billions of sun shines , on the other hand less than minute cells, molecules , atoms and to the amazement of the scientists underneath these there are tinier subatomic particles , that our Creator laces them with wise laws , life creating interactions , us being the the amazed, happy children of this!  For me to serve God faithfully and wisely only means one thing: To testify, prove day after day to my brethren humbly the greatness of my Lord , His immeasurable wisdom , His devotion with my life , with all my words and deeds !

Who is the unfaithful servant? The one who forgetting about our loving heavenly Father , putting himself into the limelight stating by his thoughts , words , actions despises, condemns, abuses ,harms his fellow human being, our God created beautiful world!! I also see these wounds , the faces contorted by hatred , avarice, sinful desires , but with kind words , healing love , I would like to free my brethren to a Christchild-like free, happy life ! Sin is such a contagious disease , captivity , that disfigures man’s face , cripples his soul, his life becomes like hell !A person like this should not be conquered , destroyed but attempt to heal ,free from their captivity! Lets join together , lets prove it to one another as well , with a lot of patience , love that despite we all are murderous Saul-s , yet still in all of us Saint Paul is there as well , together with the Hymn of Love that by which if we implement in our lives , then not only the world but we also will be happier, by becoming Men according to Jesus’ heart desire and the promised Eternal life by our Redeemer will be ours as well !

"Stay awake!

For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.

Be sure of this: if the master of the house

had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,

he would have stayed awake

and not let his house be broken into.

So too, you also must be prepared,

for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.

"Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,

whom the master has put in charge of his household

to distribute to them their food at the proper time?

Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.

Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.

But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,'

and begins to beat his fellow servants,

and eat and drink with drunkards,

the servant's master will come on an unexpected day

and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely

and assign him a place with the hypocrites,

where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”

Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel for Wednesday 30 August 2017

There is silence , after the hustle and bustle of the day , before I go to bed I look within myself , think about just how much do my words, deeds mirror my thoughts , my real inner self !! Unfortunately there are many Christians with dual personalities, schizophrenic, who love God , their fellow human beings in words , but in reality as they say  “with friends like these….”!!

How much am I our Lord Jesus Christ’s trustworthy, honest , genuine follower ? I should only grade myself from 1-10 from hypocrisy  ! How good it would be if would be heading for failure in this subject !! How great it would be if Jesus Christ would not have to despair over me !!

Jesus said,

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.

You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside,

but inside are full of dead men's bones and every kind of filth.

Even so, on the outside you appear righteous,

but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing.

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.

You build the tombs of the prophets

and adorn the memorials of the righteous, 

and you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors,

we would not have joined them in shedding the prophets' blood.'

Thus you bear witness against yourselves

that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets;

now fill up what your ancestors measured out!”

Tuesday 29 August 2017…….. The memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist 

All my life despite the fact that I am aware , day after day ,of my own limitations ,  as well as that of  the people living around me , there was just one thing that I would have liked to prove and that is that God does not Create rejects !! In all my reflections, writings I wanted to  point out, shout it to the world , that we are all our Creator’s precious children , valuable , precious not only in the eyes  of God, but we can also become our heavenly Father’s blessing for each other !!

Of course I am dismayed at seeing evil, lets take even today’s gospel passage , that speaks of Herod’s unbridled wallowing, the martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist !! What can that person say , who sees it, that certain people day after day only would like to prove  one thing , that apart from them, everyone else is bad, a sinner, good-for-nothing , unacceptable , destroyable and in spite of all this  with a living faith want to embark on  Christ’s way ?

Seeing people’s ignorant baseless accusations , hatred I cannot do more then keep repeating our Lord Jesus Christ’s words heard on the cross :  “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”( Luke 23, 34) Herod and his family with their sinful act , raised John among the martyrs for eternity, to become one of humanity’s examples , they repelled themselves into unmeasurable contempt , suffering !! Darkness, gloom cannot be dispelled by hatred, revenge , murder,  and this  also is why our Lord  is not thirsting for revenge , is not leading people in a revolt against Herod , but goes and carries out vigorously the deeds of love, teaches, heals, consoles, multiplies the bread  feeding the hungry !!

This is why I profess that my only task here in this world is to free people  from the prison of ignorance, darkness , and lead them into the light of  trust and love shining through everything, there they will see it for themselves and know what is right and good , the direction leading them to happiness, joy !

I ask you lovingly to come and help  prove to our Lord Jesus Christ that our beloved Heavenly Father does not create rejects!!!

Herod was the one who had John the Baptist arrested and bound in prison

on account of Herodias, 

the wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married.

John had said to Herod,

"It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."

Herodias harbored a grudge against him

and wanted to kill him but was unable to do so.

Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man,

and kept him in custody.

When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed,

yet he liked to listen to him.

She had an opportunity one day when Herod, on his birthday,

gave a banquet for his courtiers,

his military officers, and the leading men of Galilee.

Herodias' own daughter came in

and performed a dance that delighted Herod and his guests.

The king said to the girl,

"Ask of me whatever you wish and I will grant it to you."

He even swore many things to her,

"I will grant you whatever you ask of me,

even to half of my kingdom."

She went out and said to her mother,

"What shall I ask for?"

She replied, "The head of John the Baptist."

The girl hurried back to the king's presence and made her request,

"I want you to give me at once

on a platter the head of John the Baptist."

The king was deeply distressed,

but because of his oaths and the guests

he did not wish to break his word to her.

So he promptly dispatched an executioner with orders

to bring back his head.

He went off and beheaded him in the prison.

He brought in the head on a platter and gave it to the girl.

The girl in turn gave it to her mother.

When his disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

Mark 6, 17-29

Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel….

27 August 2017 - Twenty first Sunday in Ordinary  time .

Who is Jesus for me !? Even today this is the question of primary importance !! For me Saint Peter’s question is the winner : "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Modern physics teaches us the material world  was born out of energy !! I believe and profess that the infinite love and goodness is capable in our material world to become flesh,  I believe that God’s infinite love towards us became incarnate in Jesus Christ two thousand years ago  ! I also believe that in the sacrifice of the holy mass , upon the prayer of the Christians gathered to the call of our Church , that same Infinite Love that became man at Christmas , becomes incarnate in the Holy Eucharist , comes amongst us!!

Humbly on my knees I profess my faith ,

Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi and

he asked his disciples,

"Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"

They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,

still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

Simon Peter said in reply,

"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Jesus said to him in reply,

"Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.

For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.

And so I say to you, you are Peter,

and upon this rock I will build my church,

and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.

Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;

and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Then he strictly ordered his disciples

to tell no one that he was the Christ.
