Jesus never said , that He will make the journey of His followers without “potholes”. He is not saying that there will be no temptation, storm, worry, sickness , sadness , lack of understanding in one’s life, but He is saying that holding onto God we’ll be able to ride out and survive the difficulties , and if we fall , it will be easier to get back on our feet.

We all get in such situation during our lifetime , when perhaps we feel , that this is it , it is all over . We experience the dead of night of our soul. It is difficult to see then, that time is a good healer , heals most of the wounds . We have to persevere , because we will experience that if we pull through the suffering , we will see life in a different light : certain things, the eternal values , our relationships will become more valuable , the chaff will be blown away by the wind.

Jesus did not get the scribes to sit down around Him -saying :” the words are transient, writing remains “-_ so to dictate to them a “ project”, the exact timetable for following Him .
As we read in the gospels He only wrote once , even then in the sand. He showed us a way of life , said it and says it again and again :
“Come , and follow me !”

Why does God take away our treasured possessions ? Does He mean to harm us ? No way . At the end of our life’s journey He is the One , who awaits us into His embracing arms , in whose embrace we can rest with infinite joy . He wants to make our journey towards Him easier . He takes away things, from some more slowly, from others more quickly , that tie us to life , bit by bit He empty us , so in the end He can totally and eternally fulfil us . Finally having emptied ourselves totally , perhaps deprived from our health, our beauty of our younger age , from our energy, vigour , our sharp , bright mind, intellect , we may stand in front of our Heavenly Father , in whose loving arms with infinite joy we can rest . We get unimaginably more, than what could ever posses here in our earthly life.

How many people fallen by the wayside are drifting powerless, without hope, downhearted , wallowing in the unproductive self-pity of the everyday ?! How unfortunate , what a great loss for all ! How great it would be if one could involve them again in the building of the Kingdom of God ! How good it is that Saint Paul, Saint Augustin , our father Saint Francis and so many more wonderful people had the strength, the opportunity to start anew , try a second time as well !!
Nowadays if someone falls and fractures something , they are admitted into hospital, have X-rays done , have a cast put on and the specialists are taking care of them . We are all patient, visit them taking them nice stewed fruits . Unfortunately when somebody fails in their humanity , if their faith, hope , integrity is broken , then we condemn them , we easily step over such people , and we bend down to them with a great degree of difficulty to say to them : Come , I believe that you can get back on your feet again !! You know that man is not a disposable tissue , and that is why I profess that you can be God’s precious gift for your people, your Church , but even for the whole of mankind as well ! Trust in me , because I want to help you so that you can make come true our God’s dream that is about you ! Your life cannot remain as a torso left unfinished !! Let go of the wrong you suffered, your shame, your failure , perhaps even yourself , and take hold of the hand of the one even lesser than yourself with helping love!

It is a wonderful tool, by it they could defend themselves from wild animals, could obtain food , it was a great milestone taking the utensils into their hands , but unfortunately atrocities could also be committed by it, it is possible to kill a person with it . All of God’s gifts can be used for good or bad purposes. Using the same letters we can glorify God , but we we can also write slanders, spread evil .

A huge procession followed the 10 am mass, we arrived just as the people started out praying, singing in honour of our Lady.

Pain, suffering is not something that can be dispensed drop by drop, something that can be measured . For the outside world suffering is invisible, fear, hopelessness often can push someone over the edge. However we also have to know that our suffering is not in proportion with the goodness, joy that God will give us for our earthly struggle.
